Um não educado / A polite no

Essa é uma daquelas coisas que eu tenha que contar antes que eu esqueça.  Gostaria de gravar mas não sei se vou estar com a camera na mão a próxima vez que isso acontecer.  O Nicholas fez 2 anos esse mês e está falando bem para a idade dele, embora não seja fácil para qualquer pessoa entendê-lo.  Ele está aprendendo a falar por favor, desculpas, obrigado e de nada.  Ao mesmo tempo, ele só tem 2 anos e sua palavra favorita é NÃO.  Até quando ele quer falar sim, o não começa a sair primeiro e depois muda para sim. 
Nossa rotina funciona mais ou menos assim: jantamos juntos, as crianças brincam um pouco enquanto arrumo a cozinha ou organizamos correspondências, daí eu ou o Chris sobe com as crianças para dar banho enquanto o outro terminha a cozinha, preparamos os dois para a cama, escovamos os dentes deles, lemos estórias, beijos, cobertores e boa noites.  O Nicholas nunca quer parar de brincar para ir tomar banho.  Agora, ele não só reclama falando “não” quando eu falo que está na hora do banho, mas ele fala um não educadamente: “não, obrigado.”  É muito engraçado!! Eu falando “vamos subir para tomar banho” e ele responde com voz de choro, “não.  Não, obrigado!”  Ele deve pensar que se for educado talvez eu deixe que ele fique sem o banho.

This is one of those things I have to tell before I forget.  I wish I could tape it but what are the chances I’ll have the camera in my hands next time it happens?  Nicholas just turned 2 earlier this month and he is talking well for his age, although not everybody can understand him.  He has been learning to say please, sorry, thank you and you’re welcome.  At the same time, he is only 2 and his favorite word is NO.  Even when he wants to say yes, he starts with no and changes to yes in the middle of the word.
Our night routine is kind of like this: we all dine together, then the kids play while we sort through mailing or start cleaning the kitchen, then either Chris or I take the kids upstairs for their bath while the other finishes the kitchen, then together we prepare them for bed brushing teeth, reading books, tucking them in, kisses and good night.  Nicholas never wants to stop playing to go take a bath.  Now he not only complains saying “no” but he does it politely: “no, thank you.” It’s too funny!! I say “let’s go up to take a bath” and he replies in a crying voice, “no.  No, thank you!”  He must be thinking that if he is polite I might let him skip bath.
